The ejaculatory ducts are two in number each formed by the union of the duct from the vesicular seminalis with the duct us deferens, and is about 2 cm long. They commence at the base of the prostate, and run forward and downward between the lobes of the prostate. The paired ejaculatory ducts pass through the prostate dividing the gland into a posterior and a median lobe. These ejaculatory ducts connect to 2 seminal vesicles located behind and on the upper portion of the Prostate gland. The seminal vesicles are in turn connected to the testicle by a long tube called the vas deferens. The ejaculatory ducts consist of an outer fibrous layer and an inner layer of Muscular fibers.

Just prior to ejaculation, the Testes are brought close to the Abdomen and the seminal fluid is rapidly transported through the vas deferens to the ejaculatory duct and subsequently into the Urethra (The Urethra passes through the Penis and opens outside.) Contraction of the ejaculatory duct propels sperm into Urethra for emission The sperm then passes through the ejaculatory ducts and is mixed with fluids from the seminal vesicles, the prostate, and the bulbourethral glands to form the semen or ejaculate. During ejaculation the semen is ejected through the Urethra with rhythmical contractions.
